Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Magnetic Gradient

A while ago Laurie from Dressed Up Digits did this awesome magnetic gradient manicure. If you're not following her, you definitely should. She has some awesome manicures. A recent favorite: seashells. Fabulous! Anyways, I saw I had 3 unused Icing/Claire's Magnetix polishes in my untried bin and figured this would be a good way to use them.

I started with a layer of the silver and then did a gradient sponge over with the silver, gold and blue. Once I that was dry I put a non-fast dry top coat over it to make it wet again. I had to use Gelous because that was the only non-fast dry clear polish I had haha.

Then I held the magnet over it like usual. All my gradients resembled the one of my middle finger, but I didn't hold the magnet to it fast enough, so less of the contrasting particles were pulled up. I still like it even if it wasn't as smooth as Laurie's :)

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard and Nail-Venturous Floam

Time for another Monkey See Monkey Do Monday! I wasn't sure what I was going to do and I saw China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard staring at me from my untried box. I love love love this polish! So fricking awesome. After I put it on, I remembered Lindsey's (Neverland Nail Blog) awesome combination and decided to recreate her mani!

Lindsey does some awesome nail art. Even though this is one of her more simple manis, it's still genius!  If some awful tyrant made me choose to only have one mani for the rest of my life, I think I'd choose this one. It's so bright and happy!

I started with two coats of China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard. You need this polish in your life! Then I used two coats of Nail-Venturous Floam on my thumb and ring finger nails as an accent :) These two go so well together!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Splatter

Welcome to another Monkey See Monkey Do Monday! I saw this splatter mani on Nail Polish Wars the other day and absolutely loved it. Since I recently purchased the same set, I decided to try replicating it.

I started with Color Club Almost Famous and then Used a straw to splatter Mrs. Robinson, Twiggie, Wham! Pow!, Warhol and Pucci-licious. I kinda had a few crappy splatters in the beggining, but I got it worked out in the end ;)

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Monarch Butterflies

For today's late edition of Monkey See Monkey Do Monday I decided to do butterfly nails. I already had on two coats of Models Own Pink Cocktail and decided to throw this on top.

I still need to practice this technique, but it still catches my eye while wearing it :) I'm not sure who originally did this design and I've seen it on a lot of blogs, so I'm not sure who to credit. Go to google and search "butterfly nails" and check out some of the awesome interpretation.

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Clownfish

This week for MSMD Monday, I chose as clownfish design. I found this tutorial from Juliatmll on Pinterest and decided to try it since it was so dang cute! Also, since I was already wearing Zoya Arizona I didn't have to repaint my nails. I used Icing Chic Chic Horray and L.A. Colors Circuits with a small paint brush and a dotting tool.

I clearly didn't do this manicure just, but I still thought it was pretty cute :) If I were to attempt this manicure again, here's what I'd do differently:
1.) Use a more opaque white. Chic Chic Horray is my favorite white base coat, but going over the clownfish strips twice wasn't ideal.
2.) Dip my paint brush directly into the polish bottle instead of putting a blob on a palette.
3.) If I do put it on a palette, I'd probably add some polish thinner so the polish would apply a little smoother.
4.) Make his face bigger on the accent nail.
Even though I don't really consider this mani a success, I still really like the pattern. It's really out of the ordinary :)

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday

Hey guys! This is my first Monkey See Monkey Do Monday! The idea of MSMD is that you find something that inspires you and recreate it! So that cool thing you saw on Pinterest? Try it! I was inspired by the famous Nailside Cloud Mani. It's such a cute look and gave me an opportunity to use 3 untrieds!

I started with one coat of Fearne Grey. This is a new brand to me that I got in one of my birthday packages! You can never have too many grey cremes because they're frickin beautiful! Then I made the clouds with Barry M Bright Purple and Fearne Lime Green following the Nailside tutorial.

This mani was so easy! I was doubting myself while doing it, but I really liked it in the end. I couldn't stop looking at it while I was wearing it and I got several compliments!
