Pink Wednesday: Strawberries and Dots

For today's edition of Pink Wednesday, I chose China Glaze Strawberry Fields. I bought this polish recently because of the name. And after I put it on I had Strawberry Fields Forever stuck in my head all day.

This is two coats. It's a bright pink with gold shimmer. It's soooo pretty! Then Nubar Black Polka Dots was staring at me, so I decided to throw on a couple coats. Polka Dots is the perfect name for this polish because that's exactly what it looks like!

Even though I love this polish on, it was a pain in the butt to apply. The brush bristles are black, so it's impossible to tell if there are any specks on your brush. Also, they're really sparse, so this is about 3 coats. And it drags really bad, so you have to keep rearranging the dots. It's still totally worth it because it's so stinking cute!

Teal Tuesday: Abstract

For Teal Tuesday this week, we did Abstract! I wasn't sure what to do, but eventually decided to do a saran wrap mani. I painted on two coats of a Love & Beauty matte teal polish. I really love this color, but I don't like the finish. I've decided I don't really care for true matte polishes. I only like the suede kind. But it was gorgeous after some top coat :)

Then I painted on a coat of another polish and then put some scrunched up saran wrap on the nail and pulled it off. The colors I put over the teal from index to pinky were Color Club Twiggie, Pucci-Licious, Poptastic, Blue-Ming and Lavendarling on the thumb.

I keep trying to decide what my favorites are. I think it's the thumb, index or pinky. The saran wrap method is so easy! I can't wait to experiment with it some more!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday: Clownfish

This week for MSMD Monday, I chose as clownfish design. I found this tutorial from Juliatmll on Pinterest and decided to try it since it was so dang cute! Also, since I was already wearing Zoya Arizona I didn't have to repaint my nails. I used Icing Chic Chic Horray and L.A. Colors Circuits with a small paint brush and a dotting tool.

I clearly didn't do this manicure just, but I still thought it was pretty cute :) If I were to attempt this manicure again, here's what I'd do differently:

1.) Use a more opaque white. Chic Chic Horray is my favorite white base coat, but going over the clownfish strips twice wasn't ideal.

2.) Dip my paint brush directly into the polish bottle instead of putting a blob on a palette.

3.) If I do put it on a palette, I'd probably add some polish thinner so the polish would apply a little smoother.

4.) Make his face bigger on the accent nail.

Even though I don't really consider this mani a success, I still really like the pattern. It's really out of the ordinary :)

Adventures in Stamping: Plate Ending in 5

This weeks Adventure in Stamping challenge is any plate ending in 5. I chose Cheeky plate CH5. There were stars on this plate so there was no way I could resist it! 

I started with a base of 17 Fury. This polish covered in 1 coat! Then I stamped over it with W7 Purple Paradise.

I love this color combination! In the light I was working in, Fury looked more gold. With the stars, it really reminds me of Harry Potter for some reason. Anything that reminds me of Harry Potter makes me really happy :)

Untried Month Day 19: Zoya Cynthia and China Glaze Some Like It Haute

I have a final in a few hours, so I'm cramming. But I decided to do this mani before the cram session so I had something that makes me happy. Since I loooooove dark blue, grey and glitter, I decided to combine all those things into this mani :)

This is two coats of Zoya Cynthia and then I sponged China Glaze Some Like it Haute on top. Zoya describes Cynthia as a dark teal. I don't really see teal, but it is definitely a dark blue.

I don't really like my index finger so much. The nail shape is all weird because of the length and the gradient just isn't as nice as I'd like it to be.

This pic me contorting my hand to hide the bad nail haha. My favorite is definitely the ring finger. This glitter is sooo sparkly and I love it a lot!
