Spring PCFC Day 9: Favorite Spring Peach

I'm finally doing some more challenge manis. I keep painting my nails, but I haven't been posting them. Here's my favorite spring peach:

Two coats of China Glaze Peachy Keen. It's so pretty. It's brighter than I anticipated, but I still like it.

I had just gotten some of the new Jordana glitters as well and decided to add some on. The girls in my birthday group are actually the reason I went scouting for them. The display was 3 deep, and 3 girls wanted Cosmic, so I didn't get it :( But I did find a coupon for BOGO Free on all nail polish! I used it to get 2 of the new Milani glitters (Teal and Hot Pink). Teal is like Cosmic, plus holo hex glitter, so I was ok with that!

I added one coat of Copper Blaze on each nail except the ring finger and did one coat of Milani Teal on the ring finger as an accent. These glitters applied really easily and I love them! Plus, they were only $1.49 so it was a great deal!!!

Love Yourself Nail Art Challenge

In the Polish-aholics Anonymous facebook group, Claire Gallaugher commented "I find it weird (prob not the right word as usual lol) how hard a time girls give themselves and each other, it is even obvious over nail art... some of the designs I see are amazing and even the ones that aren't are still cool as the person has tried and hopefully enjoyed it... I am the same about bashing myself and was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining my "love your self no matter what" nail art challenge? Can be any design, colour, level... anything at all to do with nails... whatever u think most represents you... anyone in?" I loved the idea. We women are so hard on ourselves! I'm not sure about y'all, but it's so easy to get myself into a hate spiral and is so hard to stay positive. It doesn't come as naturally as self-deprecation does, sadly. I decided to just pick polishes that looked pretty and made me happy :)

I started with one coat of Zoya Julieanne. It's so pretty and shimmery! Love love love it!

And then, would this manicure really express me if I didn't add some glitter? Of course not! I'm a glitter whore, y'all. It's just tiny, sparkly bits of happiness. How could you not love it?! I added one coat of China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. CeCe at ManiCured! called this polish "Mardi Gras in a bottle" and she's totally right! Soooo pretty!

This manicure made me seriously happy and was simple, which was nice. After an amazing (but very exhausting) weekend at Raider Awakening (:D!) and then school and tests and all sorts of obligations, this nice relaxing mani was exactly what I needed! And I seriously love this nail art prompt! Thanks so much Claire!

I just checked and I now have 51 followers! Yay!!! Thanks so much! In celebration, I'll be hosting a giveaway! I'll have to decide what to giveaway and then wait until Sunday to buy the prize since I gave up buying polish for lent.

Spring PCFC Day 4: Spring Water Marble

On to day 4 of the Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge! Spring water marble. I was probably supposed to use pastels, but I'm not really a fan. Plus, I just got in my new Holland polishes. So technically, I did use spring colors, since it's from a spring collection. I started with my right hand, which wasn't very successful.

At least the thumb looks cool. And I actually like the index finger, even if it is kinda plain. Now for the much nicer right hand.

My pinky was too close to me ring finger and part of the nails didn't get marbled. I kinda tried to hide it in this picture. Here it is strait on.

I did a test marble on a zip lock baggie and the orange kept mixing too much with the yellow and ruined the color. I decided to do a base of Zoya Pippa and then marble over it with OPI A Roll in the Hague, OPI Kiss Me on My Tulips and China Glaze White Cap. It helped with Pippa and A Roll in the Hague mixing and added a pretty shimmer to Pippa :)

Spring PCFC Day 3: Small Flowers/Flower Bed

Well hello there! I was really excited about this challenge day because I could do what I planned to do in the 31 Day Challenge. And then the same thing happened: I couldn't find my flower glitter. I had seen it everyday for the past week, and then when I went to do this mani, it was gone. I finally found it though! I started with two coats of China Glaze Kinetic Candy.

Then I added some flower shaped glitter I bought at Hobby Lobby and painted stems and grass with China Glaze Gaga for Green. So far so good. Then, for some reason, I decided it needed to be smooth, so I added Gelous and Seche Vite. I applied it too thick and it bubbled and ran all over the place and blurred my green :/ Here is the result:

These were the two nails I actually still liked.

And the full mani in all it's fail. I will have to attempt this mani again in the future.

Spring PCFC Day 2: Favorite Spring Pink

Hello all! I have more pink for you! It's favorite spring pink to coincide with Pink Wednesday. Thankfully there are quite a lot of pinks in my untried stash :) I started with three coats of Sinful Colors Glass Pink. It's like Cinderella's pink sister. It's so pretty. It look like there's a little VNL here, but that wasn't there in real life. You can also see a little bit of the staining on my pinky that you couldn't see in real life.

Then I added two coats of OPI I Lily Love You. It's such a cool mix!

Spring PCFC Day 1: Valentine's Mani

Happy Valentine's Day! Even though the only valentine I had was in 1st grade, I don't really have a problem with it. We used to have awesome parties in elementary school and now it's an excuse to eat candy :) This is also the first mani for the Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge! Here's what I came up with:

Polishes used: OPI A Rose by Dawn...Broke by Noon stamped with OPI Wocka Wocka and Bundle Monster plate BM14, China Glaze Dance Baby stamped with OPI Pamplona Purple and BM02, OPI Steady As She Rose with Sally Hansen Plum Power and China Glaze Make Some Noise and China Glaze Sweet Hook stamped with Pure Ice Purple Reign and BM03.

Btw I got an Ott light! Don't my pics look so much better? I actually really loved this mani even though I'm not a huge fan of pink/purple combos and hearts. How do you like it?

Bloom.com Haul

Hiya! Today when I got home I had two packages waiting for me!

I kinda ripped right into them. How cute is that tissue paper?! Here's what was inside:

Nail Envy Original and Matte set, Zoya Lolly and Harley, OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?, I Don't Give a Rotterdam, Wooden Shoe Like to Know, Thanks a Windmillion, Kiss Me on My Tulips, I Have a Herring Problem and A Roll in the Hague. I bought a $50 gift certificate for $25 and a $40 for $20. I saved them to use for The Holland Collection. So I got all this for $47.50! Regular retail price: $111.48! I had to use each gift certificate separately, so I had to strategize to spend the whole certificate, but not go over it. That's why I got the two Zoyas. I now have all the Mod Mattes! I was trying to figure out what other Zoya to get and the description for Harley sounded pretty :) I can't wait to try out the Hollands!

Essence Edward & Bella

Hello all! Today I have another one of my twin sets to show you :) This is Edward and Bella (Edward is, of course, the sparkly one). They're so pretty!
Just look at those bottles! Aren't they gorgeous?! I used one coat of Bella on most nails, but a couple need ed a second coat to even things out. I then topped them all off with one coat of Edward.

Close up of the thumb. Don't you just love the square glitter?! I do! And they other day while I was sitting in class, I noticed something:
It matches my notebook! I'm obviously really into this color right now and can't keep myself from buying it haha. Like I said before, I love the Essence twins. I'm not really a Twilight fan. Well...honestly, I LOVED the books. Are they great works of literature? No, but I really enjoyed them. They're kinda like a clean romance novel. The movies however, I really hate. They're just...awful. And they've kinda ruined the books for me. But nothing can ruin these gorgeous polishes for me :)

Pink Wednesday with Icing Magnetix

Hey everyone! This is my first Pink Wednesday! I really love Mean Girls, so I was really excited when I heard about this...even if it is a little late in the day lol. I was busy at work for once and didn't get a chance to blog it earlier. But here it is!

This is two coats of Icing Magnetix in pink. I'm not really a fan of the pink color before the magnet, but with the magnet, it's really cool! It still might be my least favorite of the Magnetix. To find out more about Pink Wednesdays, click on the pic in the sidebar!

Essence Chuck & Blair

Hey y'all! I don't know about you, but when I saw the Essence Twins, I thought "Must. Have." I thought Edward & Bella and Romeo & Julia were the prettiest, but I also wanted Chuck & Blair and Gabriella & Troy because of their names. I LOVE Gossip Girl and High School Musical. I ordered Chuck & Blair from a super sweet eBay seller way back on January 8th and have eagerly awaited their arrival! They shipped from Poland, so they only got here Friday and I got to pick them up from the post office on Saturday. I really wanted to wear Chuck & Blair on Monday for the GG 100th episode, but it didn't happen, but I decided to put it on as soon as possible anyways. I ripped open the package and pulled out Chuck and thought "Oh no! This has to be Gabriella! It's so...purple". But it was indeed Chuck. He looks much more purple in the bottle, but dries bluer. But it makes sense that Chuck is somewhat purple since Chuck wears purple quite often. And Blair is so much more exciting in person! I thought she was just plain silver hex glitter, but she also has holo micro glitter! Enough with the words, here's the pics!

Please ignore the slight tip wear. Barely dry nail polish + cash register = exposed tips :/ I absolutely love these polishes and I'm so glad I finally have them! Whatever happens to Chuck and Blair on the show, at least they'll always be together in my polish stash like they were destined to be!

11 Question Tag

Today, I was tagged to do an 11 Question Tag by the lovely Jebba from The Key to Jennasis! We're in a birthday group together and she tagged all of us :)

Here are the rules to this particular tag:
Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post.
Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post. Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.
No tag backs.
No stuff in the tagging section about "You are tagged if you're reading this", You actually have to tag 11 people.

11 Things About Me:

1. I really love animals. I used to watch Cratt's Creatures everyday after school and my favorite tourist attractions are zoos. Also, if an animals dies in a movie I'll usually cry more than if a human does.

2. I took ballet and tap for 15 years. I also took jazz and pointe, but I didn't like them as much. I miss dancing everyday! I still dance around the house for fun, but it can't compare to dressing up in a beautiful costume and performing on stage.

3. I have a red VW Beetle! It's name is George Harrison because he's my favorite Beetle. I love my car!

4. I'm half Hispanic (Mexican). My dad's side of the family is Mexican, but neither my dad or I can speak Spanish. I took 5 years in school, but it did almost no good.

5. I'm secretary/treasurer of my university's Catholic Student Association. It's an umbrella organization and I'm involved in almost all of the subsidiary organizations. I love my fellow officers and I really being a part of the community.

6. I have a half-sister and half-brother that are 33 and 30. They're from my mom's first marriage. And I also have a little brother who's 18.

7. My favorite foods are pizza and mashed potatoes. Not together, but I love them equally and could probably live on them my entire life.

8. During the summer of 2010 I studied abroad in Rome. I'm dying to go back because I feel that I missed so much! I found out about so many cool things in the time since I've been home that I need to see! And the pope was at his summer home when I was there, so I need to see him too.

9. I've been known to start various collections before nail polish including DVDs, socks, headbands and craft supplies.

10. I love reading. I read constantly. Even when I watch TV. Unfortunately I haven't had time to get into a book at the moment, but I still read constantly. Since I don't really have time to devour a whole book, I read small things like blogs and articles. I'm obsessed with cracked.com and their hilarious and surprisingly informative articles.

11. In case you didn't pick it up from #4 and #5, I'm Catholic! I love Jesus and the Catholic faith. It's just so interesting! I guess #8 kinda gave that away too.

11 Questions That I Answered:

1. What pets do you have? Names?
I have a dog named Phineas. We thought he was a stray and took him in. When we found the owners they let us keep him :) They said he was a Pit Bull, but he's way too big to be pure blood. They're usually only 50 lbs and he weighs 93. The vet thinks he part Mastiff. Anyways, he's sweet and adorable and loves to cuddle, which gets quite cramped in my twin sized bed. He's my dog and we also have a family dog. We have a golden retriever named Samson. He's a fatty :)

2. What is your favourite thing to do in Summer?
Swim! I love the water! I wish I were a mermaid so bad so I could breath underwater. Coming up for air it such a bummer.

3. What place do you want to visit in the near future?
Italy. I only got to see Rome and Florence. I really want to see Cinque Terre, Milan and Venice as well. And there's a gazillion places in Europe I want to go to.

4. What do you like (object wise) besides nailpolish?
I kinda answered this one too lol. But I've pretty much cooled down on my sock and headband purchases. I do still try to buy DVDs and books whenever possible though. All my shelves are actually overflowing with books and movies and I need a new storage solution.

5. How many polishes do you usually purchase a month?
This past month I bought 75. Yikes. But I'm giving up polish shopping for Lent! I didn't want to give up nail polish because of this blog and because it keeps me from biting my nails, so I decided to just give up buying. It will also help the birthday group out and keep me from buying stuff they're buying me.

6. What is your favourite genre of TV shows?
Sit-coms. But I love TV a lot and watch a bunch of different things. My favorites right now are Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock, White Collar, Modern Family and Happy Endings. I watch a lot of TV.

7. What really annoys you?
Smacking. How hard is it to chew with your mouth closed? Unless you're sick. Then it's excusable.

8. What is the name of the polish that is on your fingers or closest to you on the table?
I'm currently wearing a jelly sandwich with CG 108 Degrees, Icing Party Confetti and OPI Teenage Dream.

9. What is your favourite product to use on your hands/nails excluding polishes?
Mary Kay Satin Hands. Love it! It makes my hands so soft!

lemmed polish or a single collection?
Umm...I'm not sure. But I can't wait until the Hunger Games collection comes out. I want those really bad because I love the books.

11. What is your favourite drink? Alcoholic and Nonalcoholic.
Umm margaritas? I don't drink very often, so I haven't picked my favorite yet. And Diet Coke. Addicted!

11 Questions For You to Answer:
1. What started your polish addiction?
2. What's your favorite domestic polish brand?
3. What's your go-to comfort food?
4. What's your favorite holiday?
5. What was the best vacation you ever went on?
6. What's your favorite movie?
7. What are your feelings on sports?
8. Favorite color?
9. Most prized possession?
10. Favorite music/band/artist?
11. Do you have a car and what is it?

Monday Mani - Jelly Sandwich

Every Monday in Polish-aholics Anonymous there's a challenge. Today was a jelly sandwich! In case you don't know, a jelly sandwich is a sheer polish layered over a glitter so that the glitter peeks through.
I used one coat of China Glaze 108 Degrees, Icing Party Confetti, OPI Teenage Dream and then 108 Degrees again.

108 Degrees is actually a really bright shimmer, but it's hard to capture on camera. Also, the outdoor photos didn't really capture the holo glitter in Teenage Dream and it showed up best here in my dark living room lol. I snapped a quick pic that sort of shows it. I love jelly sandwiches!

Adventures in Stamping - Blue

Hello! I'm in a facebook group called Adventures in Stamping and there's a challenge every Sunday. The challenge today was "blue". We could do anything we want, but it ALL had to be in blue. Here's what I did :)

I started with 3 coats of my new Sinful Colors Cinderella (GORGEOUS!) and then stamped with NYC Skin Tight Denim and Bundle Monster plate BM209. I picked this design because it looked like rippling water, so it seemed appropriate for an all blue mani :) This challenge was perfect for me because I have SOOOOO MANY blues. It's seriously a problem. I'm not super pleased with the stamping because I did it in a rush, but it's not horrible.
