Texas Independence Day!

In case you didn't get it from my Texas Flag Mani. I really really really love Texas. And March second is Texas Independence Day celebrating the day Texas separated from Mexico with the Texas Declaration of Independence which created the Republic of Texas. In elementary school we always celebrated Texas Independence Day with a chuckwagon lunch (usually accompanied by live music including a fiddle) and dancing the Cotton-Eye Joe in P.E. Now that I'm in college, nobody really cares :( I decided to celebrate by putting the state flower (bluebonnets) on my nails! :)

I started with three coats of a light blue Cosmetic Arts. I then used a brush to paint on Sinful Colors Exotic Green for the stem. I then used a dotting tool and Sinful Colors Neptune, China Glaze Electric Beat and NYC French Tip White.

Bluebonnets are so pretty, but unfortunately they don't grow in the semi-arid area of Texas that I live in. They do grow on my grandmother's ranch, which is just a few hours away. If I can't enjoy them in real life, at least I can have them on my nails :)

Happy Texas Independence Day Y'all! Go eat some delicious BBQ and listen to some country with a fiddle in it!

  1. this is really pretty, you did a great job. I love Texas too and I always hear about the Texas blue bonnets but i guess the parts of TX I generally visit (east Texas mostly) don't grow them. :(

  2. I’ve featured your beautiful nail art design on my recent post “50+ Spring & Easter Nail Art Ideas & Inspiration” here:

I can’t wait to see what you make next! If you create any more looks like this that you think fall into the Spring and or Easter category, post links on my Facebook wall or comment on the post and I’ll add them and the links in the post! Keep up the great work!

  3. Wonderful job! This looks so pretty!

  4. Oh my goodness!!! I am ABSOLUTELY OVER THE MOON for this mani! Bluebonnets and daisys are the PRETTIEST flowers in my humble little opinion, and this is just the cutest idea!! I always wanted to live in Texas or visit for that dad travels and he is gone for months at a time for work, and he says that Texas is the bees knees! Maybe someday i'll get to go...until then, i'll be trying out bluebonnets on my nails as well! YOU'VE INSPIRED ME LADY!!
